Discovery Center: Wetland Animals Plus Boots & Wading in the Creek

Join us for an exciting hands-on adventure at the Discovery Center in Murfreesboro as we explore the unique ecosystem of the Murfree Spring Wetlands! Students will begin by meeting several fascinating wetland animals, including a frog, slider turtle, box turtle, and snake. Through interactive discussions, students will learn about the characteristics of each animal, compare and contrast species, and discover how these creatures are specially adapted to life in wetland habitats.

After learning about the animals and the importance of the Murfree Spring Wetlands, students and chaperones will trade their shoes for rubber boots and head into the spring for a guided exploration. Discovery Center educators will share interesting facts about the wetlands and provide instructions for safely exploring the area. Participants will have the opportunity to investigate rocks, sticks, plants, and other natural features while observing the wetland environment firsthand.
